Funky interactive fountain in front if the Hungarian National Bank

Did I ever tell you that one of the best things about Budapest is that it is getting always better and better? We sure do have many political, economical macro, mezzo cosmic problems, but one thing where we are scoring high points is: how to make Budapest's spaces funnier and more livable and lovable?

You don't believe me? So take this example.
Funky interactive fountain at Freedom Square (Szabadság tér). I know it is creepy weather right now but summer is still not so far :)
Freedom Square is neighbour of the famous Parliament. Witness of 1956's revolutionary street fights, bloodsheds. Surrounded by imposing, amazing and important buildings, just to mention a few: Hungarian National Bank, Hungarian National Television, American Embassy. You can also admire the one and only truly communist statue outside of the touristy statue park: a red star commemorating the "freeing soviets". Obviously this tiny red star causes immense social debate, but let's talk about it another time.

So, in the middle of this spolitical, economical and historical centre, Budapest has chosen to install a funny fountain. You arrive by foot from the Basilica on the nice pedestrian streets and find yourself in front of a water wall - and strangely some are inside this wall. How on earth did they get there? Go closer - slowly, slowly, and when you are already scared the water will splash you it suddenly stops and a little path opens for you.

Children can play here for hours - and so at least their parents have an excuse to enjoy it as well.

We were  very happy about the opening: here is the video of the dancing ceremony:

Sometimes you will also find open air expositions on Szabadság tér. Here you can see some photos of the Gipsy painters' exhibition.

Below a parking lot, above a cafe and playground . Freedom Square gives every kind of service and treat - cross over walking from Basilica to the Parliament, or the other way round!
