Valley of Arts - a different festival on the Hungarian Mediterrenean

Summer is festival time here in Hungary. There is barely a free weekend to take a beer and chill out in Budapest, since there is always a friend calling you with the tent on her/his back already, ready to convince you to accompany him/her on the train trip to the chosen festival, to reduce your alimentation to beer and hotdog for a few days, to make short dreams in a sleeping bag, to dance in one second to techno and in the next one to heavy rock and to return back with a few things lost, hair in rasta and unknown numbers in your phone...

....................do you feel like escaping?
About our festival:

Sziget is almoast boring for us in Budapest, and there is Hegyalja to drink as much wine as you need to forget any pain, or there is Bánki tó, close ot the capital, which was dreamt for chillers and bikers, and Ozora which attracts goa freaks from all over the world....

...... still not found what your are looking for?

So come to the Valley of Arts, the cultural paradise organized for many years on the northern coast of the Balaton lake, probably one of the most beautiful places in Hungary.

Valley of arts usually lasts longer then a week. This year, it is from 22 July till the 31st - still time to go, and actually I will go this weekend. This festival cannot be missed for many reasons:

 - Balaton felvidék and the 6 villages where the festival hosts its programs is the most enchanting region in Hungary. Curvie hills, cute villages, the lake poping out on the horizon on every corner, the sun colouring gold your white wine - we can almoast feel like in Tuscany, with a Hungarian touch :)

-  the Valley of Arts offers program from theater play, through pottery workshops till concerts, shows, and everything regarding art. The events are scattered along the villages, so as you wander around by foot, local festival bus, bike on your hands or whatever, you will always stumble upon something.

 - it is very cheap and you can even do it for free. For the 10 days, it costs less then 80 euros... And you can even manage with a lot less, entering some free shows, or just a few which you really like, and in the rest swing around from tree to terrace, friend to friend.

- you choose your accomodation. The villages offer every kind of bed and room, and of course, camping is always fun and popular here as well.

 - that magical feeling which makes so many people say no to those festival freak friends of theirs, and return here year by year and dream of owning a little house in one of the villages...

Sadly, the webpage is only in Hungarian (actually, why?), but just go there and enjoy :) You will feel among friends...
