Many festivals grace the sands of our beautiful country, and with summer fast approaching it is time to start preparing! Here a few of Underguide's favorite festivals...!
Budapest Pálinka Festival 10th-13th May, 2012
The Hunyadi Court in Buda Castle plays host to the spring Pálinka Festival the aim of which is to introduce high-quality Hungarian fruit brandies, pálinka in Hungarian, to both locals and tourists.
Musical programs, concerts enhance the atmosphere during the 4-day event.
This year the focus will be on pálinkas made from apricot.
Daily tickets: 2 000 HUF includes a tasting glass, 4-day pass (includes a tasting glass): 5 500 HUF.
Opening hours: Thurs-Fri: 14.00-02.00, Sat-Sun: 14.00-24.00

Museum Festival 21st-22nd May, 2012 Hungarian National Museum
The event takes place in the garden and building of the Hungarian National Museum. There'll be craft fair, musical programs, folk performances.

Floralia Festival at Aquincum Óbuda, mid-May, 2012
The Floralia revives a popular festival of the Roman era. The event takes place at Aquincum Museum in Óbuda (Old Buda, district III.) featuring gladiator fights, theatre performances, flower exhibition children programs and many more.
Budapest Space Film Music Festival (Tér Film Zene Fesztivál)
Mid-June- August, 2012, every day 17.00-23.00
The roof garden of the large plaza at Nyugati Railway Station gives home this summer festival offering quality and free entertianment for film lovers of all ages.
The films are selected from the best Hungarian and international films shown in the last couple of decades.
Venue: West End Shopping Center, roof terrace
Sziget Festival (6th-7th) 8th-13th August, 2012
The largest open-air pop-rock festival in Central Europe takes place on an island on the Danube (Hajógyári Sziget).
This year, acts include Crookers, Placebo, Steve Aoki, Korn, Friendly Fires, Fink, Noah & the Whale, The Pogues, Paolo Nutini, The Killers, The Ting Tings & LMFAO!

Volt Festival 27th-30th of June, 2012
Among the acts this year are the Lost Profits, Faith No More, Snow Patrol, Skrillex, Iggy & the Stooges, Simple Plan, Chase & Status and RÖYKSOPP.
Ticket prices range from €35 to €100, making it one of the most student (cost) friendly music festivals this summer!

Balaton Sound
Location: Zamárdi
Balaton Sound offers all the perks of a music festival, with the joy of being right beside the biggest lakes in Europe! Among Balaton Sound's many stages, lined up along the lake is an entire wine village hosting all of the best wine that Hungary has to offer..!
