The Coolest Hungarian souvenirs, batch 1.

I love Budapest T-shirt? Naah. I love Hungarian Girls T-shirt? A little bit better, but come on, really? You can do better! We start a series with cool souvenir suggestions - real 21st century Hungaricums, made by Hungarians for travellers and compatriotrs... With love.

Hi there, I am Petra, from Bag of Pretty, and I am here to share with you my ultimate guide for
souvenirs from Hungary. That is, if your souvenir aspirations go beyond red paprika and fridge
magnets depicting the Parliament.

1. Bogrács graphic from Bolt collection by Zita Majoros is what my heart aches when I see a white space on my kitchen wall. Majority of Bolt collection is souvenir material, so choose away.
Where to get it: Printa webshop or Printa here.

2. Matyó family by Bimba – contemporary design with elements of traditional matyo embroidery (one of the finest examples of Hungarian folk art). Diana Barcsi is easily my favorite Hungarian designer and you can find her products on Meska or here. If you would like to know more about the designer check out the interview over at mine.

3. Komatál -Platter of friendship by Dombon-a-tanya- a Budapest based designer duo Anikó Juhász and Anna Nóra Nagy who aim at a clean cut design combined with traditional craftsmanship. Get the platter here.

4. Folqa - “Each represent a region, a profession, and one of the many beautiful Hungarian folk
motifs. Bring one home to your place as a gift or as a memory, and you will feel the desire to
collect the other characters!” Shop online here, but Folqas are a pretty famous bunch, so there is a
fair chance you will find them even in the souvenir shop or the airport.

5.And if you want something a bit more expensive than just a simple souvenir, go for the leather
I-Pad/phone cases, or bags by The Beta Version lined with felt and handpierced with typical
Hungarian folk motifs, these would make a pretty sophisticated and valuable memory.

And that is it from me for this time. Join me for another batch in a week or so here on
Underguide!

xxPetra
